Pacquiao VS De La Hoya

Round 8
Manny Pacquiao defied the odds when he defeated Oscar De La Hoya in the welterweight duel at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
De La Hoya refused to come out of his corner after the eighth round, forcing referee Tony Weeks to declare Pacquiao the winner by TKO.
Round 7
Manny Pacquiao was ahead in unofficial cards after the first half of the contest.
More of the same in the round. Pacquiao was active on his feet. De la Hoya still struggled to connect.
More than a minute into the round but not much action.
Pacquiao stepped on the gas and cornered de la Hoya midway through. Pacquiao clipped de la Hoya in the corner and caused a puff on de la Hoya’s eye.
De la Hoya looked defenseless. He got out of the corner.
But Pacquiao pressed on the attack and put him by the ropes. Pacquiao was hitting de la Hoya on the head and punching him to the side of the body.
De la Hoya showed some signs of life but Pacquiao stemmed the counterattack.
Round 6
Manny Pacquiao kept up a more aggressive lunging stance in the sixth round.
As the commentators put it, Pacquiao has been landing more punches than De la Hoya, who seemed reluctant to let go, as if waiting for his opponent to come and in and expose himself.
Round 5
Manny Pacquiao continued to attack Oscar de la Hoya’s head relentlessly. Pacquiao remained disciplined with his offense.
De la Hoya’s face was beginning to redden up.
De la Hoya couldn’t connect on his punches.
Midway through the round, Pacquiao peppered de la Hoya with connections, exciting the crowd.
After drawing back, Pacquiao became active again. His connections were bothering de la Hoya.
As the rounded wound down, de la Hoya clipped Pacquiao and hit him with three lefts.
Round 4
Pacquiao kept aiming his punches at the face of de la Hoya, dancing around the Golden Boy, in the fourth round
Both fighters started the World Boxing Council (WBC) bout tentative in their moves as they sized each other up, but De la Hoya was visibly a bit more tense than Pacquiao.
Roiund 3
In and out, side to side. That was Freddie Roach’s instructions.
Manny Pacquiao was executing Roach’s game plan to a T.
Pacquiao continued to tag Oscar de la Hoya on the face. When de la Hoya countered, Pacquiao quickly evaded the punches.
Both fighters still refused to go toe-to-toe, patiently waiting for the right time to attack.
Pacquiao worked his right jab well. He went to the body a couple of times late in the round.
De la Hoya was active with his left jabs.
Round 2
Pacquiao and de la Hoya started the second round of their ) nontitle welterweight match more energetically than they did the first, with a quicker moving Pacman stinging the Golden Punch with some punache in the face.
Both fighters started the fight grim faced and tentative in their moves as they sized each other up, but De la Hoya was visibly a bit more tense than Pacquiao.
Pacquiao managed to sneak in several punches to De la Hoya’s face in the first round, putting his fans into a frenzy of cheers. The Golden Boy had some trouble landing his punches on the visibly quicker Pacman.
Round 1
Not much action in the opening round.
When the two fighters walked to the center ring when the ball rang, Pacquiao was visibly the smaller fighter.
Both fighters were sizing each other up early. Except for a few jabs, the action was relatively mild.
Pacquiao found a few openings using his left but de la Hoya was able to take them.
De la Hoya pressed Pacquiao a couple of times to the ropes but Pacquiao was able to dodge it both times.
